Okay, so I have seen many people say that Madeline is an orphan. I guess I figured she was in a boarding school since she got toys from her "Papa" while in the hospital. Or am I missing something? I ask because I am not familiar with anything Madeline and first just read this to my daughter for her school work.

Reading this as an adult after loving it as a child, I noticed that after the girls visited Madeline in hospital "they went home and broke their bread" and there are 12 girls at the table 🙀 Who is the imposter!? When they brush their teeth she's disappeared and there are 11 girls. Is anyone else as deeply disturbed by this dastardly crime? Should we call the gendarme?
