I'm the Teacher-Librarian at an elementary school (K-5). I know this book is geared towards YA - is it age-appropriate for our students as well? Our grade 5 students are 10 years old... I've heard such great things about the book but I want to make sure that our discussions are effective for the kids. Thanks!

With respect to one of the comments below, while white children in 5th grade might not have "the baggage that some of this book addresses," their classmates of color probably do and if we want to raise kids who are anti-racist, it's important to start young.(less)
