So when the FBI starts leaning on him why doesn't he just call Holly or McGrath or even Webster (from book 2 Die Trying) and say your agents are doing this? How cool would it have been for him to ask the director to come to the next meeting at Quantico and put him in charge of the investigation or at least show up and start talking to Jack and ask him how things were going?
Chris I hear that, but if he did contact McGrath or Holly, the book would have been over in three chapters.

DONT READ THIS BOOK. What utter crap. Child has the FBI threaten Jodie's life as blackmail to get Reacher to work for them. That's insane. What a stoopid, insulting piece of garbage. Don't you think?

Hell are you doing!? I don't get it. In what part of the country did Lee Child grow up? Is there somewhere where it is common to omit "What in the..." before asking "...hell are you doing"? At first I thought it was just a quirk of a particular characters speech (in a prior Jack Reacher that I read), but it seems that beginning sentences with "Hell are you" seems like a perfectly normal speech pattern to Child.

This is my third attempt to read this book. Has anyone else found this particular book to be a rather heavy slog? May people in these reviews say they couldn't put it down while I am having a tuff time trying to pick it up.
