I thought that Ranald and Bertie went to different schools but in this book they’re both at the Steiner so when did Ranald change to it?

I was confused in the last chapter. Are there 2 men named James? Pat arrived, followed by a young attractive man. "That's the duke's nephew," said James. I thought James the nanny was the duke's nephew.
