Did anyone feel a bit deceived by the marketing for this book? The cover makes comparisons to "Normal People" and "Convenience Store Woman" and the synopsis gave me the impression of a mild suburban thriller - none of this is very accurate. I don't mind the element of surprise but I think that's different from advertising as one thing, and turning out to be something else. What expectations did you have?
