It also renders the dialogue distant, terse, and just-the-facts like a police report, which would be emotionally repressed Mickey’s style.(less)

This book gives the reader a lot to think about, but I do not consider it a downer. By creating a mystery for the main character to solve, the reader sees this world but is focused on finding the answers to the mystery.(less)

I think the point of the ending …moreI think it seemed pretty clear her baby was addicted. She was still using during pregnancy and was then on methadone. I think the point of the ending is you just never know. With recovery and addiction every day is a new challenge in staying sober. There is never any certainty. It seemed like a very realistic ending to me. (less)
