I am not sure if he could ever be completely pro…moreI think Uris tries to give a voice to the Palestinians, but he is telling it from a Jewish viewpoint. I am not sure if he could ever be completely pro-Arab because of this. I do think he gives a nice overview of the culture and traditions of the Arab Muslim people though, which is probably fairly accurate. The Arab family portrayed in this book has very different customs and beliefs than we do as Americans, some of those beliefs are downright ugly, yet Uris still makes the characters appealing. That alone shows he is trying to explain the positive parts of this culture.(less)

I don't know that we could real…moreIt is possible this book is biased, but I believe Uris did a good job at researching the book and trying to be honest. I don't know that we could really know if the book is biased, unless we actually lived in the culture during that specific time period. I am not very familiar with the culture of the Muslim Arabs, but it would appear that with what is going on in the world today, the overlying themes of this book are true. Even so, when reading a book like this, it is important to remember that it is factual from a certain point of view, but there are many truths in any situation.(less)
