I am really puzzled by the negative comments about this author's books. I only read one book of Agatha Christie and haven't reached for another yet, but I cannot grab books fast enough by Sophie Hannah- the plots are very intriguing, complicated, and psychologically-challenging. Now, obviously, Agatha Christie is the top drawer, by all the ratings out here, so I must have picked the wrong "first book" to read.

Where is that book set? :) I have a challenge to read a book by a British author that has to take place in America

Why is the series listed as "Spilling CID" here on Goodreads but it is listed as "A Zailer and Waterhouse Mystery," on Penguin.com and "The Waterhouse & Zailer Crime Series" on the author's website? I'm a cataloging librarian and am trying to get the series name as accurate as possible. Thanks!

Was anyone else severely disappointed with the cliché, predictable and utterly lame way Hannah portrayed her trio of female characters?? The mother/lover/crone imagery is downright painful in some places. Ugh. Drivel smacks of the 1930's... how depressing to realize that female characters can still only fit into these three narrow shapes. Struggling to read on...
