But it won't make you cry you will just want to turn every page until the end and then read it over again. (Warning your family members may wonder why you have been in your room for two days and haven't answered them because you have been reading this paget-urner)(less)

It's truly an amazing book, it has some death, but remember that this is East Germany being ruled by Communists. There is no romance, except for the fact that the older brother has a girlfriend, but that's barely even mentioned. And it's on the easier side so yes, it is 5th grade appropriate. (less)
