I am reading Drums of Autumn and I am trying to recall how Fergus ended up in America. When I read Voyager I remember towards the end when they are going back to Hispaniola to find Ian Jamie leaves Fergus and Marsali on Jamaica. Now only two months later he is witnessing the execution of Jamie's friend. Did he take ship to America after Jamie and Claire arrived? Do they explain this later and I am just not there yet?

Is this story worth my time? over 1,000 pages and I feel like its a chore. (I am not getting into the story like I did with books #1 and #3. I hated book #2.) Does the story get better?

I read in a Kindle so don't realize the length until I am weeks into it and still more to go. I found the story very intriguing and it enlightens us on historical fiction of N. America which is a nice change. I have been watching the TV series and really enjoy having read ahead of the show to have more depth. I enjoy the show so committed to reading the whole book so that I am ready for the next season with some incite. Worth the read but HAPPY to be on to someone different when done.(less)

Does anyone else find this author really really long winded? I find a lot of unnecessary parts in the books!!!
