Perhaps I misunderstood something in this book, but why did Virginia et al have to forge priceless works of art when she had the originals in a safe deposit box at her bank? Wouldn't that just devalue the originals? What is the point of the forgeries? and why pretend that the log of all the works of art owned by the family had been destroyed?
