Wondering how appropriate this book might be for a 13 and 15 year old? Flea is doing a tour close to us and my kids are both musicians and fans, but can't find any info about the book. The title makes it not sound so appropriate. My kids are not super sheltered but would love some guidance from people who have read the book. Thanks!

This book is marvelous, and shows a real insight into what life is like being Flea. I think that to deprive someone of this story based on something like "inappropriate" language is a tragedy. (less)

On a page near the end, Flea talks about that second book with such questions as "Will Flea learn to trust love?" and "Does God exist?" among other heavy/tongue-in-cheek questions. So I'm sorta leaning toward the idea that no, no future book, some questions are unanswerable.(less)

Has anyone read both this and Scar Tissue? I just finished Scar Tissue and didn't like it; dark, depressing, self-indulgent, and poorly written. How does Acid for the Children compare? Is there some enlightened self-reflection or does it tell a similar story as Scar Tissue?

(personally liked Scar Tissue more), but I think there's definitely self-reflection and lighter stories in this one, although there are some darker stories because he had a bit of a rough childhood. Flea is very descriptive in his writing so if you didn't enjoy Scar Tissue I think you'd enjoy this one.
