Which Pendergast book bears the most striking resemblance to this one? Actually this is the only 1 I really liked but it was simply the very 1st one I ever read, I had no high expectations, yet it proved to be an interesting & nontrivial read. I've also checked out Relic & Brimstone which were both OK but unfortunately I didn't like neither Dance of Death nor The Book of the Dead. So can you recommend me anything?

Having read those I'd say you may skip book #1 in The Trilogy but it'd be quite pointless to start the 3rd & final book if you haven't finished its immediate predecessor.(less)

Many readers who are fond of Pendergast seem to despise this one novel. Can/shall I skip it and proceed with "Cemetary Dance" after "The Book of the Dead"?

Most of the books are sets of a trilogy following one story. But the strange announcement at the end of the book and Constance's smile will mean something in later books.(less)
