I assumed that the alien "Alexis" and her crew had picked up the substance for research. Hope that helps- not sure if you knew but the author has another 3 in the series and one that's coming out in August or September!(less)

When will there be more? I haven't been this wrapped up in a book on ages. I look forward to more of this authors works.
