Can I somehow skip books 6-10 to move onto the Knife of Dreams when it seems to regain some quality? I really cannot handle the pace of Lord of Chaos and the characters' actions make me wanna pull my hair out...

I'm almost 300 pages into Lord of Chaos. I like to think of myself as a pretty avid reader, but this book is challenging to get through. I think I've been reading it off and on for about 7 or 8 months now, and I've put it down to read other books as well. So I need to know if it's worth the read in the end?
