I think they both recognized their shortcomings and chose absence over harmful representation. (less)

If you've never read a King book, don't start with this one. It's not one of his better books.

If you're looking to read King, start with Salem's Lot, The Shining, Christine, or Pet Sematary if you're looking for horror.

If you want things a little more grounded, but still with supernatural elements, try The Green Mile or Firestarter (one of my favorites).

If you like the long, epic stories, The Stand is excellent. So is 11-22-63, but it does have time travel in it.

If you like straight crime novels, Mr. Mercedes is great.

Don't judge King by Sleeping Beauties. The book is far too long for the story, and tends to ramble a bit down irrelevant paths. (less)
