Can I read this book without having read the other book without having read any of the books from women of the otherworld and understand what is going on?

Only the very last chapter takes place at the end of the series and it is just about Jeremy's mother.
I think it is perfectly understandable without having read the series. And, except for the last chapter about Jeremy, doesn't give anything away about the series. (less)
