But if it is like a virus such as, SARS then there has been no evidence to suggest that the SARS virus is transmitted transplacentally from mother to the newborn. But if the fictional HAAG virus is like Ebola then the Ebola virus can be transmitted to baby in utero, during delivery, or through contact with maternal body fluids after birth including breast milk, and is almost universally fatal in the developing fetus. So, I guess it just depends on what type of virus the author wanted it to be. ( I'm not a doctor, but I just got this info on the Internet). (less)
