I am half way through the book and I'm enjoying it, but one question still remains. Why didn't Olivia spend her quarantine time alone, instead of with her family that could contact Haag from her? You would almost think that the government would insist upon it.

This was a good read. I haven't read a British book in a while so it took a while to get used to it. I appreciate the real family dynamics. It was great to get surprises and to see true interaction come through the pages. Should we expect a follow up to answer the open questions or draw our own conclusions?

The epilogue is the birth announcement for Seamus Andrew Coughlan Birch. Who the heck is Seamus?? I found only one reference online that says Seamus can be a "variation" of Sean. Since he was NEVER referred to as Seamus, what's with this baloney - or is it blarney?

Andrew is blindsided with the fact that he had fathered a son and had absolutely no knowledge of this fact , but how does Jesse first learn that Andrew was his father? I know that Jesse's natural mother had no contact with him, but did he somehow get a copy of his adoption papers? Did his Iowa parents tell him? I'm sure it must have been mentioned in the book, but I can't seem to find it.

But if it is like a virus such as, SARS then there has been no evidence to suggest that the SARS virus is transmitted transplacentally from mother to the newborn. But if the fictional HAAG virus is like Ebola then the Ebola virus can be transmitted to baby in utero, during delivery, or through contact with maternal body fluids after birth including breast milk, and is almost universally fatal in the developing fetus. So, I guess it just depends on what type of virus the author wanted it to be. ( I'm not a doctor, but I just got this info on the Internet). (less)
