No one ever believed this was going to become such a great and successful novel. It was rejected by a lot of publishers, until Grisham got one opportunity and he blasted, with this jewel! It captivated me, and now I am excited to be able to read it again! Great impact, great story, incomparable book! (less)

Though your question is not clear as to did you not understand the legal stand of the book or the moral, i'm gonna answer both:

1. LEGAL: It's pretty simple really. He was declared Legally insane which for the layman means that he couldn't differentiate Right from Wrong and was incapable of making a sound decision at the time.

2. MORAL: if you read the book, then you know what happened to Lee's daughter was Inhumane to say the least. Considering this, in such situations, it is not only MORALLY RIGHT, but also important to mete out Punishments like these to the culprits. Thus with this thought in mind, the Jury took the legal aid for the insanity plea to let him walk on a technicality.

I'm Swedish but have lived in the US for over 20 years by now.

John Grisham writes about lawyers and the legal system in the US. He uses a lot of legal terms that are special to the US. I wouldn't have known these words before I moved to the US.

I used to read a lot of books by Stephen King when I lived in Sweden. His books had few words that I didn't know.

I also liked the books by Patricia Cornwell. She writes about a medical examiner.

Her books were pretty easy for me to understand because I used to be a registered nurse.

I like the books by John Grisham but I wouldn't recommend them to someone who doesn't know English well.

I like reading Kindle books. If there is a word I don't know I can click on it and see what it means. (less)
