I'd say the biggest difference is that See What I Have Done doesn't emphasize the reactions/suspicions of the larger community the way We Have Always Lived in the Castle does. (less)

Reading online, Lizzie Borden buffs have mused that eating a pear was Lizzie's alibi the day of the murders, and others say John wasted time eating a pear that day as well. Not sure this answer is of any help. But yes, the pears, as well as the ticking of the clock!, was mentioned over and over and over!(less)

While we don't know who killed them, I believe it was accepted that one person (or two people working together) murdered them.(less)
