Anyone else put off from this right at the start when Alice says the blue ink on the invitations reminds her of the peonies in her mother's garden? Since there is no such thing as a blue peony, I immediately worried that this would be a poorly edited book. Haven't decided whether to continue or not.

How did this book get published? Absolutely the worst book I've attempted to read in awhile. Gave up after 200 pages.

I would like to thank all the reviewers of this book for saving me lost hours of my life. Reading the reviews, this sounds like it's 2017's The Vacationers, highly marketed "beach read of the summer!" but truthfully reviewed on Goodreads. "Unlikeable characters" are fine because hey, Gone Girl was amazing and life isn't always rainbows and unicorns. However, I DO dislike reading books high on lists that fall flat.?
