I see this relationship lots in Asian families where the bond between husband and wife is weak or where there is abuses. The wife/mother turns to her sons for emotional support and maybe in time, even financial support she isn't getting from her husband. It is a very controlling bond and society continues to coddle this mother/son bond to the detriment of all other relationships. This cycle will repeat itself in the next generation when the son marries.(less)
