If the book doesn't come out until Oct, why is someone already rating it? How do you rate a book that you have not read or is not released yet? Is there another use for the rating that I don't know about, I am the one using the 5 star rating all wrong? Can someone help me understand this? And if I am using it correctly, then this is so wrong that an author gets these 3 stars that will affect her average upon release!

Many times, the ratings have nothing to do with advanced copies and more accidental errors by readers. For instance, with Cuffed, ARCs went out two days ago and yet there are ratings that date back several months for it. Readers sometimes go to put the book on their TBR or go to get info on the upcoming release and accidentally click on the star rating. Then it's there until they actually rate the book (if they come back to it).

Believe me, it's frustrating for authors to have books release without a clean slate. It drives me crazy, but there is nothing we can do about it other than message each person and ask them to remove the review . . .
