The wri…moreI just finished it; I agree with Jean-Marie and the publisher's website. Elementary students can definitely handle the young readers' edition. The writing is pretty basic (few complex sentences) and the subject matter is explained in a way to supply students with much of the background they might need, whether history or science.(less)

Did anyone else find this to be an interesting part of our history but not an engaging book to read? I usually read a book this size in a day, two tops, but I found myself setting it down frequently and reading other books.

I wonder if it was the young reader's edition. I grabbed my daughter's copy so we could read and discuss it. She was reading for school. They shaved 100 pages off the classic version.(less)
