In the beginning if this book you mention a photograph of a boy and a girl on a swing, is this picture real? I looked up Kevin Carter and The Humans of New York and they were both real so I was wondering if the other picture was real too. And I know this is a bit late but I hope you're feeling better from the Influenza A. Thankyou

Brigid Every single picture Juliet describes in the book is real -- with the exception of the photograph taken by Juliet's mother (of the kids on the swing).…moreEvery single picture Juliet describes in the book is real -- with the exception of the photograph taken by Juliet's mother (of the kids on the swing). There are so many powerful photographs taken by real photographers that I didn't want to "borrow" any of their work and attribute it to a fictional character, so I completely made up the photograph taken by Zoe Thorne in the book.
