With this series, I recommend reading them in chronological order.

I listen to a lot of books "on tape/CD" and have listened to a lot of Kathy Reichs' series. I am also a fan of the Bones series on TV which is a "take-off" on Temperance Brennan's life.

The Temperance Brennan character in the book IS different than the one portrayed in the TV series. I have found, for a variety of reasons, when books are converted to movies/series, they are often different. I think that's what is meant by "literary license"; the author has one idea, the director another. (Some concepts are easier to convey on paper than on film.)

I am a fan of BOTH, and I think Emily Deschenel does a fine job with the TV version of her character. Furthermore, I get a kick out of the chemistry between Tempe and her "sidekick" on the series. Also, I believe Kathy Reichs consults on the series. If it was so objectionally different from the book, I think she would say so. Don't you?
