Rhage and Mary has two boo…moreYou can read it as a stand alone from the first book. But, besides featuring Axe and Elise it also features Rhage and Mary. Rhage and Mary has two books about them; Lover Eternal & The Beast, books #2 and #14 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I would at least recommend reading The Beast for Rhage and Mary's part of the book as it is entwined with the happenstance in Blood Vow.

However it is entirely possible to read Blood Vow and not concentrate on the parts with Rhage and Mary if that doesn't interests you.(less)
