Can this book be read as a stand-alone or are the previous books in the series need to be read first?

With Inspector Pekkala I wo…moreNo, I think the books can be read in any order. I do, however think books from a series are more fun read in series order. With Inspector Pekkala I would recommend the first book, 'Eye of the red Tsar' as the best introduction any of the books in this series, but again it is not really necessary. Eastland pretty well covers Pekkala's background in each book. but only as the story progress's. Best to sit, back fallow the story as it develops and enjoy the book.(less)
