Probably an overused and sloppy way of putting it, but if Jane Austen wrote Eragon, it would probably look something like this.

The protagonist is a duty bound officer in his mid to late twenties, who is forced to tame a dragon for his country. Though tame is a bit of a stretch considering how polite the dragon is. Adopt is perhaps a better term.(less)

This book takes place in our world during the Napoleon Wars so the antagonists are the countries fighting Brittain. Also, there are many schools for Dragon riders and everyone knows dragons exist. It won't ruin Eragon for in any way I'm sure. It didn't for me.(less)
