Potential readers would be more abundant in high school, but discussion is key. The themes are mature and dark and confusing, but don't we want them to stretch their thinking and be confronted with bigger thoughts in a historical context and the ability to share their reactions with adults and peers?(less)

I did not even particularly like the book the first time through, but the layers and angles one can look at the characters and situations makes for excellent discussion. The author is brilliant in eliciting feelings of the reader through her writing. (less)

Coral Ward Yes, I did read it because of Room. But The Wonder is very different and takes you to Ireland after the Famine. The author is interested in psychology…moreYes, I did read it because of Room. But The Wonder is very different and takes you to Ireland after the Famine. The author is interested in psychology though and this is definitely part of the story. I loved both books, also Frog Music is beautiful.(less)
