Some of them have been even closer, so the characters are just recovering from closing the case from the previous book when the next book begins. For example, in the last few books, Festive ( book 39, which came out in September of 2014) happens during Christmas week, Obsession (40) includes New Years Eve, Devoted (41) is still in January, Brotherhood (42) is like a week later, and Apprentice (43) includes Bella's birthday, which is like the first week of February. So that's five books, published over two real-world years, but in story time it's less than two months. (less)
