Though in the text, God is always…moreI believe it should be read by the parent first because of the grim situations that the main character goes through. Though in the text, God is always seen as the answer or is sought out for support, I would recommend more 8th grade age.

There was attempted assault twice on a woman which could be a heavy topic for an 11-12 year old. There is also much death and talk of adultery. These are topics one may want to discuss with there child first before it is read in this book. I know I myself was deeply moved by the power of this story but extremely sad. (less)
