That is what layered the book is such a way as to allowed us to see an evil depth to Holberg, the man who is killed. A well developed story is much more than just a straight line to the answer. It is the layers that bring together a whole story that give life to the motivation of each character the writer introduces. Could the writer have gone right from A to B? Yes, but what a boring story that would be!!! (less)

Sons of Dust (1997) and Silent Kill (1998) were the first and second books to feature Inspector Erlendur respectively. The confusion comes from Jar City being the first in the series to be translated into English. As I understand it, the first two books are still only available in ther original Icelandic. (less)
