I stopped then because he made me. He did not strike me; instead he did something I had never expected. He reached for me. It was sometime before he let me go.
When he did, I was breathing far too fast and I tasted blood on my lips.

I love the Veronica Speedwell series, is this as good? I love Veronica as the series is quite witty and fun, is Lady Julia Grey a more standard romance style?
