I think there are only 19 people on the tour, until John arrives, but it's mentioned several times there are 20 and John makes 21 ... am I going crazy? It's bugging me, and I've re-read and counted several times now. (I haven't finished yet, but this quibble is seriously holding me up. ;) )

Is it my imagination or is Vanessa loosely based on Juliet Hulme/Anne Perry? Teenage girl commits murder, goes to jail, is released, changes her name, becomes famous mystery author, eventually outed as murderer?

Kristie I assume it is. I remember seeing Heavenly Creatures and then being shocked when I found out about her being a famous author.
