Hoping this is a good as "Little Bee" which I liked very much. Didn't really care much for "Gold" - maybe just the plot and characters did not keep me interested. Have not read "Indendiary" and hope it is better. Looking forward to his new book. Has anyone read this?

I liked The Nightingale because some of it took place in the Basque area of the Pyrennes and my son and family lived close by as the time.(less)

The soldiers on Malta were starving yet they seemed to have an unlimited supply of cigarettes. Also the mail plane makes routine trips to the island. Doesn't it make sense that the plane could also bring rations??
