As far as violence goes, there's no shortage of blood, and somewhat descriptive scenes with the guillotine, as well as mentions of torture devices and beaten prisoners.
There are also many suggestive comments, both to pretty Sovay, and other girls, shady inns, and passionate kisses. Sovay also offers herself to a man sharing her room, in one scene. (He refuses her.)(less)
