Just heard about this book and curious: none of the reviews say anything about Pyke. Is he a character? A person? Is there anything about him worth mentioning (other than his species and preternatural attractiveness to females)? Or is he there just to be the object of everyone's obsession?

And there's not anything necessarily worth mentioning about him specifically, but after telling someone about the book, they pointed out some similarities between Pyke and black students in America. But that detail paired with some other quotes from the book make the whole thing suspect.(less)

The pterodactyl is literally a pterodactyl and he can barely speak English. He does have hot pecs though, so apparently that makes it okay?

This book is utterly baffling. Good luck if you read it.(less)
