Though the main characters meet for the first time in this book, there are events in the first book that have a significant influence on the romance. Also the plot of the diamonds is woven throughout all three books and doesn't resolve until book three. And personally, the first book was my favorite and I definitely wouldn't recommend missing it!(less)
