Maybe it's sort of rude of me to ask but I got curious about it while reading the book... "kaya" doesn't mean "rock" in Greek at least not standard Greek, it's "πέτρα" [p'etra] or βράχος [vr'axos]... I'm pretty sure "kaya" it's a Turkish word! Is it used in some Greek dialect I don't know about?

Seamaiden Kaya means rock (big rock) in Turkish. They still use this word in Cynthus, Delos as a slag word.
