I am trying hard to get interested in this but it is leaving me flat. I find myself picking up other books to read and forgetting about this one, am I alone?

Toward the end, Ellen realizes she hasn't properly considered that men are also deeply impacted by stalking behaviour- and I do think that this is true, stalking can be traumatic regardless of the genders involved. However, as a reader, I don't think my less sympathetic attitude toward Patrick was due to his gender but because I didn't like him, he was a jerk IMO. Others' thoughts on this?

She deserved his r…moreYes, while Patrick was walled-off emotionally, he took advantage of Saskia, & then just dumped her when he "woke up" 3 years later! She deserved his respect & the chance to transition out of their "family", but he handled it despicably. Saskia's breakdown was Patrick's fault & they both paid a terrible price.(less)

On pg. 25, it describes the house Ellen inherited from her grandparents as being her mother's childhood home (which comes up again on p. 140). How then could it have been built in the '70s? If Ellen is 35 years old.... Also, how old is Saskia? Her mother was 80, and died when she and Patrick were together, so that would put her up there, I would think.
