When will it be released on audio books?

Do I need to read the first two books in this series before reading this one? I know it says it's the "third installment of the series", but it seems pretty stand-alone to me. Thoughts? Thanks!

Does anyone know what the eight pointed star symbol is referencing? I know it us something from The Map of the Sky, but I can't think of what it is.
