If so, then 'choosing death' merely means accepting that there is no reason to at all believe that there such a thing as a continuation of a person's individual identity or consciousness after death. If anything, neuroscience points in the opposite direction: that once the brain stops functioning, whatever there is of an individual's 'self' disappears.

As an aside, realizing that you won't live forever is not 'choosing death', it is fully accepting the limits of the life we do have and to treasure it for the gift it can be. You only have one life that will eventually end, this makes life all the more precious and valuable.(less)
