Is this book part of the "new" official canon? Or did this get scratched off amongst others?

Jenna Yep, it is canon. It was actually written in replacement of 7 episodes of Clone Wars that never aired.

They said that this book was based on scripts written for the canceled season seven of the show, now that they have announced season seven of the show do you think the content in this book will be what we see in the next season?

Do I need to watch the clone wars TV show before reading this?

Ventress' entire backstory is contained within Clone Wars, so it might help to at least watch the episodes that featu…moreI would definitely recommend it. Ventress' entire backstory is contained within Clone Wars, so it might help to at least watch the episodes that feature her. Quinlan Vos is also briefly introduced in the show. The storyline contained within Dark Disciple was originally written as episodes of Clone Wars, and it really feels like a continuation of the series. It really is a great show.(less)
