I listen to the audio versions. At the end of 12, there was an interview with Janet. She said that fans have been asking for Ranger in a tux. Who else noticed that he's in one in this book? It's nice Janet listens to her fans

Did anyone else notice that Stephanie told Ranger not to email her because she didn't have her computer? But it was ok to email Joe & she could get it? You don't need your personal computer to get your emails.... I heard that at least twice in this book. Wonder if Evanovich did it on purpose?

Can I read this book as a standalone without reading the entire series?

Each book is a self contained story line, but they also build on past books to advance the series as a wh…moreIt's much like watching a television series. Each book is a self contained story line, but they also build on past books to advance the series as a whole. If you do read this one first and like it, I recommend going back to "One for the Money" and reading the series in order. Even the "between the numbers" novellas get referenced in the main series, this one not excluded, so if you're OK with a bit of paranormal flare mixed in, you'll probably want to read those, too.

With all that said, it's much less of an issue to read the Plum series out of order than it would be to read a series that has a predetermined number of books, for example: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, any trilogy ever written, etc.(less)
