The main character says "Shop" several times when he finds the police station empty. I presume this is another way to say "Hello, is anyone here?" but I can't find any references to prove it.

George Wilson the police radio has gps on it. That was deliberately mentioned early on. So, assuming his radio went with him, they would know where he was.

Don't forget the hospital finds out the girl has been taken so that would start the whole process.
