I'm a big Iron and Wine fan and I listen to his music as I write. It's a beautiful title and seemed very appropriate to the story. (less)

What was it like researching for the more specific items in this book like building the piano or preparing animals to eat, etc? How did you do your research for all of this?
Claire Fuller Much of it was done on the Internet - I watched a lot of videos on how to catch and prepare animals, but I also tried to do as much 'real life' resear…moreMuch of it was done on the Internet - I watched a lot of videos on how to catch and prepare animals, but I also tried to do as much 'real life' research as I could - going on wild mushroom forays and walking through the woods. I also read a lot of books about survival especially real accounts, as well as some historical information about the American settlers for example. As for how to build the piano I made it up completely. I just tried to visualise how it might work. (less)
