She's always been controlled by someone or something else, and she wants to finally have control over everything. Alfred is a good example of that. She says "Alfred, turn the lights off" and she knows he'll do it...until he doesn't of course ;) That's why the premise is so scary for her because she thinks she has finally gained control and then she's held prisoner by an invisible intruder.
