The love and friendship and commitment between the two of them is every bit as strong, but due to Simon's Otherness and Meg's innocence, the expression of that love is tepid at best. That's my only disappointment -- but, as is the case with most disappointments, the issue is MINE, not the author's. I had wants and expectations for where the author would go with the story, and I didn't get exactly what I wanted. But Bishop was true to the characters and the world she developed, and I was satisfied with how it wrapped up.(less)

I have yet to read the 4th book (I hate living in Australia sometimes) But I have a mild theory

Elliot WAS the Alpha until Simon stepped up, Daphne was never a pure dominate wolf, and Sam's father was an Alpha from a different pack (mainly because we have NO IDEA who he is or where he is) and died before Sam was born
Sam having both Lakeside and ??? in his blood could of, when he reached adult hood, merged both packs into one
which could maybe explain why he was above Elliot i don't know really(less)

This book was good but not for a final ending too many stories left to tell. Lakeside has so many opportunities to branch off of while including the original cast. I am really not interested of investing more time on a new cast and story line. I am not happy so I will pout. NO NO NO this can't be the end of Lakeside Others, Meg, Simon, Sam and Skippy. Winter would make the next ice age if she new Meg was abandoned and the ponies would run wild in the streets. I will have to reread my Mercy Thompson series to again just to get out of this funk. LOL....(less)
Mel She just announced that this concludes Meg's story, but that she's writing another book set in the same world that comes out in 2018.
