While most of Melanie Dickerson's novels in this series are clearly based on classic fairy tales (e.g. "The Fairest Beauty" on"Snow White"), I am at a loss to discover which fairy tale "The Princess Spy" is based on. Does anyone know or have an idea?

There are bands of robbers, evil villains with intimidating plans, non detailed fight scenes between guards, etc. A character gets beaten by a few guards. There is just some intense fighting, not really any graphic violence. There are several injuries though, including punching, knives, swords, poison, etc. Nothing detailed or graphic.(less)
